Immigration Services
Graduated from a Canadian college or university and planning your future in Mississauga?
The Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) is your golden gateway to staying and working in Canada after studies — and possibly achieving permanent residency.
At Cosmic Immigration Services, located in the heart of Mississauga, we help international graduates transition seamlessly from student life to a successful professional career. With 10+ years of immigration experience, we ensure your PGWP application is filed accurately, promptly, and in compliance with IRCC’s latest 2025 guidelines.
The PGWP is an open work permit offered by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). It allows international students who’ve graduated from eligible Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) to stay and work in Canada for up to three years.
This permit is non-renewable and only granted once in a lifetime — so filing it right is critical. With PGWP, you can:
✅ Work full-time for any employer in Mississauga or anywhere in Canada
✅ Build Canadian work experience to qualify for PR through the Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
✅ Strengthen your resume and long-term career opportunities in Canada
Mississauga is one of the most vibrant, diverse, and opportunity-rich cities in Ontario. With proximity to Toronto, growing job sectors, and top-tier employers, it’s an ideal location for post-graduate employment.
Choosing a PGWP consultant based in Mississauga like Cosmic Immigration means:
✔️ Localized knowledge of employers and industries
✔️ In-person support and consultations
✔️ Better alignment with PR pathways such as OINP (Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program)
You may qualify for the PGWP if:
✅ You completed a full-time program (8+ months) at an eligible DLI
✅ Your program was academic, vocational, or professional and led to a diploma, degree, or certificate
✅ You held a valid study permit throughout your program
✅ You maintained full-time student status during each semester
✅ You apply within 180 days of receiving your final transcript or graduation letter
Important: If your college was in Mississauga but not on the DLI list, your PGWP can be refused. We always check institutional and program eligibility before applying.
IRCC has tightened rules to protect students and prevent fraud. Here are the most critical 2025 updates:
Students graduating from public institutions and certain private colleges in Quebec are eligible.
❌ Colleges with public-private licensing agreements are now ineligible (since Sept 2024).
➡️ Cosmic Immigration double-checks your institution before starting your PGWP file.
You must apply for your PGWP within 180 days of:
Receiving your final marks, OR
Receiving your graduation confirmation letter
➡️ We track and submit your application on time so you don’t lose eligibility.
As of 2025:
You must have completed at least 50% of your program in-person in Canada
Fully online programs (even during COVID) may affect eligibility
➡️ We help you clarify eligibility if you studied online.
Length of Program | PGWP Validity |
---|---|
8 months – 2 years | Equal to program length |
2+ years | Up to 3 years |
Two eligible 1-year programs | Combined (up to 3 years) |
➡️ Example: If you completed two 1-year diplomas at Humber College Mississauga campus, you could receive a 3-year PGWP.
Our Mississauga office will guide you in collecting and preparing:

Valid or expired study permit
Graduation confirmation letter from your DLI
