The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) is an immigration program in Canada that allows skilled tradespeople with work experience in specific occupations to apply for permanent residency. It aims to address labor market needs in certain trade occupations.

Professionals with specialized skills can apply for Canadian citizenship under the Federal Skilled Trades Program. Under this plan, an immigrant is permitted to settle anywhere in Canada (outside of Quebec). The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada launched this program to help fill vacancies across Canada with foreign nationals. There is no limit on the number of applicants.
Have an offer of full-time employment in Canada for at least one year
OR a certificate of qualification in a skilled trade issued by a Canadian province or territory.
Meet the minimum language proficiency requirements in English or French.
Have at least two years of full-time work experience in a skilled trade within the past five years.
Have the necessary skills, education, and work experience to perform the job duties of the skilled trade.
Plan to live outside the province of Quebec.
The Federal Skilled Trades Program has a streamlined immigration process. It is easier and faster for eligible skilled people to apply for permanent residency in Canada. Unlike other immigration programs, the program doesn’t have any education requirements. It helps to address this need by allowing qualified individuals to immigrate to Canada
Successful applicants to the FSTP can bring their immediate family members with them. Permanent residents are eligible for many social benefits, including healthcare, education, and social assistance programs. After living in Canada for a certain period, PR holders can apply for Canadian citizenship.
